This is the privacy policy for LTC Detective (the “App”), an iOS application developed by Karst Lok. This policy explains what the App does and doesn’t do with your data.
The App does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. It does not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking. It runs entirely on your device.
The App requires access to your iPhone’s microphone — or to any audio input device you attach (USB, Lightning, or Bluetooth audio interface) — for one purpose only: to receive an audio signal and decode SMPTE Linear Timecode (LTC) from it in real time. Audio is processed live on your device and is never recorded, saved, sent over a network, or shared with anyone, including the developer.
When you start the App, iOS will ask for permission to use the microphone. If you decline, the App will display a screen explaining the need for microphone access and offer to open Settings; no data of any kind is collected during this state.
The App uses iOS’s UserDefaults to remember a small set
of settings between launches:
These values stay on your device, are not transmitted anywhere, and are removed entirely if you uninstall the App.
The App is fully offline by design. It does not contact any server belonging to the developer or any third party.
The only network activity the App can initiate is when you tap
Settings › Support the developer. That tap hands a public URL
(buymeacoffee.com/karstlok) to iOS, which opens it in your
default browser. From that point onward you are interacting with Buy Me
a Coffee under their own privacy policy, not this one. The App receives
no information back from that interaction.
The App does not track you in the sense defined by Apple’s App
Tracking Transparency framework. It does not link any data — not
even a device identifier — to data collected by other apps,
websites, or services. The bundled Privacy Manifest declares
NSPrivacyTracking = false.
The App embeds the open-source library libltc (Robin Gareus, Jan Weiß) under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3, used solely to decode timecode from audio you provide. It performs no network activity. The bundled fonts (JetBrains Mono, Azeret Mono, Inter Tight) are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and do not transmit any data. The full attribution and license texts are available inside the App at Settings › Open-source licenses.
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, regardless of age.
If this policy changes in any material way, an updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes that affect what the App does with your data will also be reflected in an updated build of the App on the App Store.
